Important:
* Exchange 15 now supports coexistence with Exchange 2010. You must install Exchange 2010 Service Pack 3 (SP3) in the same Active Directory forest. Current builds of Exchange 15 do not support coexistence with Exchange 2007 in the same Active Directory forest. Support for coexistence with Exchange 2007 will be added in later builds. For more information, see Install Exchange 15 in an Existing Exchange 2010 Organization.
Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 organizations
You cannot upgrade existing Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 organizations directly to Exchange 2013. You must first upgrade the organizations to either an Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010 organization, and then you can upgrade to Exchange 2013. We recommend that you upgrade your organization from Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, and then upgrade from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.
Network and directory servers
The following table lists the requirements for the network and the directory servers in your Exchange 2013 organization.
